GRATITUDE

Luke 17:11-19 (17) – Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? (NLT)

If money defines our existence, the wealthy should not be dying. If weapons determine our living, the powerful nations could have prevented last year’s global pandemic. Similarly, our spirituality, beauty, skills or fame do not guarantee the breath in our nostrils. Instead, it is the grace of God that has made it possible for us to witness yet another day (year). No wonder! David declared: ‘Let everything that has breath praise the Lord’ (Psalms 150:6).

Today’s Bible reading also emphasised the importance of gratitude. After ten lepers got their healing, only one returned to give thanks, but Jesus asked: ‘Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine?’ Therefore, in verse 19, he told the man to go because his faith has made him complete. Are you part of the nine or you are the one who gives thanks? Because until we appreciate God for what we have, our testimonies may not become perfect!
This new year, we must be intentional in our thankfulness to God (Ephesians 5:20). Let not His praise cease from your lips and actions because ‘the secret for more, is thanksgiving’ (Psalms 34:1).

PRAYER
Song: Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart – Don Moen (1990)

  1. Praise the LORD, all nations! Glorify him, all peoples! (Psalm 117:1).
  2. Worship and dance to God because of what is to come. Hallelujah! (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!
