1 John 3:1-8 (1A) – See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! (NLT)
A boy painted a picture that is worthy of telling the story of the Prodigal Son. He drew the man standing outside his house with his arms open as he was about to meet and hug his prodigal son. However, there was a detail on the drawing which looked like an error. The father was painted as wearing one red shoe and one blue shoe. Therefore, the people asked: ‘How could this be, that you made such a mistake?’ The boy smiled and said:
“It was not a mistake; it was intentional because it is a beautiful illustration of the love of God for His children. The father in this picture was not interested in being colour-coordinated or fashion-conscious when he went out to meet his son (Luke 15:11-32 (v. 20). He was in such a hurry to show his love to his son; therefore, he grabbed the nearest shoes that he could find. He is the God of Unmatched Shoes.” (John 3:16).
Beloved, without further ado, if you have fallen into sin, backslide and care about the lust of the world or passing through the difficult times. Why not tell it to Jesus because as seen in our Bible reading, He loves us dearly. He is calling: “Child, come back home! If you forsake your old ways, I shall blot out your sins and give you a new life.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
PRAYER
Song: How deep the Father’s love – Stuart Townsend (1990)
1. Lord, help me always to recognise and appreciate Your love.
2. Praise God for His mercies and providence in your life.
3. Father, reimmerse me in Your selfless and endless love.
4. Ancient garments and marks of ‘Do not Help him/her’ attached to my life; catch fire
