Luke 12:16-21 (19) – And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”‘ (NIV)
What-If Analysis is an Excel Microsoft application used for changing key values in a set of simulated calculations in determining possible outcomes for risk-taking in business. The Holy Spirit wants us to learn a few things from this statistical function.
A popular ruler killed his oppositions, victimised the vulnerable, and looted the national treasury. He never thought of ‘What-If’ power changed hands— because his death was too cheap to believe! Another rich man had much to spare but refused to help the needy (Luke 16:19-31). He forgot that everything ends on earth; he died and went straight to hell (Matthew 19:21-24). Further, someone who had waited on the Lord, later compromised and got infected with HIV (Just a little sin!). ‘What-If’ they stayed a bit more?
Beloved, we must always examine our actions— ‘What-If’ today is rapture, will you make it to heaven? If God blesses me, would I lavish it or use it for His services? Moreover, we should never be arrogant like the rich fool in our Bible reading! Don’t boast of tomorrow— anything could happen (Proverbs 27:1). Statistics may be tough, but if we can apply the ‘What-If Analysis’ to our daily steps, we can be more conscious of eternity. Be Born Again!
PRAYER
Hymn: One Day at a Time – Marilyn Sellars (1974)
1. Lord, please grant me the grace to live one day at a time.
2. Father, empower me so I don’t fall or fail till the end.
3. Every seed of death, germinating in the garden of my life, dry up!
4. I cancel the parade of shame organised for me, family and the church.
