PRAISING GOD IS SPIRITUAL

PRAISING GOD IS SPIRITUAL

PRAISING GOD IS SPIRITUAL

John 4:20-24 (24) – God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (NIV)

God does not need money or shelter to survive (Haggai 2:8). Instead, He provides for all creation, including the grasses of the field and birds in the sky (Matthew 6:26-34). Nevertheless, Psalms 22:3 tells us that God is enthroned on the praises of His people; wherefore, we ought to worship Him with understanding (Psalms 47:7). One of the understanding is that God is not a man or an edifice. As our text reads, He is a Spirit; thus, we must adore Him in truth and spirit.

Praising God should not be conditional or an attachment to a location, music or situation. Rather, it should be about relating our body, soul and spirit to the Lord. David understood this fact and gave unequalled praises to God. No wonder, the Holy Spirit rested on him (2 Samuel 23:1-2). Further, we learnt from Paul and Silas’ experience that praising God break chains and gates. The force that pulled down their prison doors was not physical but spiritual (Acts 16:16-40).

Beloved, what do you make of the power in praise? Do you just speak words and dance to God for the sake of it, or you genuinely render heartily worship? Think about this because there is more to the act of worship. It is a spiritual attitude which connects to God’s heart and moves Him to action!

PRAYER

1. Father, let not Thy praise cease in my mouth and generation.

2. Lord, open my eyes to the revelation of worship!
