THE SETUP FOR YOUR SETBACK!

Psalms 27:14 – Don’t be impatient. Wait for the Lord, and he will come and save you! Be brave, stout-hearted, and courageous. Yes, wait and he will help you. (TLB)

Why would God wait for two years before actioning Joseph’s release? On one occasion, the Holy Spirit gave me an answer: ‘The Lord was preparing him for the task and glory ahead’—Because anyone that would be great must be a veteran of many battles. In other words, Joseph must have had several encounters through praying, skills development (gifting) and learning the norms of the land.

Another reason for Joseph’s delay could be that if he got released early from prison, there might never be an opportunity to interpret Pharaoh’s dream. Remember! It was Joseph’s intervention that took Egypt through the famine and prosperity (Genesis 41:46-57). The boy who had the coat of many colours, achieved these because he feared the Lord and waited on Him for the fulfilment of his dreams! (Genesis 37:3, 5 & 9).

Beloved, has God promised you anything and do you recognise His voice? (John 10:27). If yes! Wait for it as our text reads, and while waiting, engage more in prayers and self-development; for, you can’t afford to be idle or complacent. Moreover, it would help if you discerned the divine purpose for your delays. If God is up to something, your setback would never result in a set down—it will surely manifest in God’s time!

Finally, I leave you with these encouraging words: “You could tell how glorious your future is by your current challenges. The bigger they are, the greater your breakthrough(s).”— Pastor E. A. Adeboye.
