Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NIV)

The essence of our existence is to please God and continually commune with Him. But, when that fails to happen, there is a danger of ‘spiritual death’ as read in our text.

Spiritual death is the earthly separation between man and God (Isaiah 59:2). If a person dies in that state (sin), they enter eternity disconnected from God, and there is no hope for them because it’s the point of no return (Second Death). They immediately get into the place of judgement and everlasting torment where joy doesn’t exist except for gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:36-43).
Beloved, ‘Hell is Real’, and we shouldn’t joke with it believing the norm that there’s no reward for our living (Romans 14:12). Never leave your day of salvation for tomorrow because if you die in sin; your fate is sealed (Hebrews 9:27). Oh! Don’t be like King Agrippa to whom Paul preached, only to reply with this:

“Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?” (Acts 26:1-32 (28)—NIV).

Today! The great Agrippa may be wailing in the ‘Lake of Fire’. Eh! Your possessions and position cannot save you from the ‘Second Death’. Repent now from all unrighteousness (Revelation 21:8); for, there might never be the next moment!

Hymn: Are You Washed in the Blood? – Elisha A. Hoffman (1878)

1. Father, save me from spiritual death (sin) and eternal damnation; and use me to rescue the perishing.
